POSTER EXHIBITION "THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR THROUGH THE EYES OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS OF TVSMU"

The poster exhibition “The Great Patriotic War through the eyes of international students of TSMU”, dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Kalinin from the Nazi invaders, was prepared and conducted by the Department of Russian Language along with Department of Educational Work of TSMU. The event was attended by Russian and foreign students of the 2nd – 5th courses of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, teachers and university staff.

Students were working on the posters dedicated to the feat of the soviet people in the great patriotic war from April to September 2020, and then they presented the results at the exhibition, that took place from the 16th of December to the 25th of December, 2020 in the foyer of the TSMU assembly hall. Foreign students depicted on their posters the heroic pages of the Great Patriotic War, told about the heroes of Tver, about their relatives-veterans. “Believe me, people, the whole earth needs this memory! If we forget the war, war will come again”… these lines of the poet R. Rozhdestvensky, quoted in one of the posters, reflect the main idea of the contest – the preservation of the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War.

As a result of the voting taken by Department of Educational Work, the winner of the competition was determined. The poster “Red star” made by first-year students of the Faculty of Dentistry became the best.

In addition, Department of Russian Language held a linguistic and cultural lesson-presentation “The 16th of December – The Day of the Liberation of Kalinin from the Nazi invaders”. On this lesson students learned the history of the Tver region during the war.

The purpose of the event was to form general cultural competencies, social and cultural adaptation of foreign students, to foster tolerance and patriotism, understanding the importance of fighting extremism.

ACQUAINTANCE OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WITH RUSSIAN TRADITIONS: THE HOLIDAY "BROAD MASLENITSA"

Russian linguoculturological lesson-presentation “Broad Maslenitsa!” (Associate Professor N.D. Mikhailova) allowed foreign students to get acquainted with the history and culture of this ancient Russian Festival: symbols, entertainment, games, features of Russian cuisine– and expand their vocabulary as well. Students learned the meaning of proverbs and sayings: ” Not life, but Maslenitsa!”, ” Every day is not Sunday “, “The first pancake is a lumpy”. Fragments of the best Russian films and musical works related to Maslenitsa were presented at the lesson. Then a linguistic competition was held, during which students completed tasks on the topic of the presentation. At the end of the lesson, the students tasted delicious pancakes.

The event, prepared and conducted by the teachers of the Department of Russian Language of TSMU, contributed to the social and cultural adaptation of students, the formation of their general cultural competencies, as well as the education of tolerance in interethnic relations, respect for the culture of the country where they live and study language.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS OF THE PREPARATORY DEPARTMENT OF TSMU ON A SKI TRIP

On the last day of Maslenitsa week, on the 14th of March 2021, students from Egypt, Congo, Palestine, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan got acquainted with traditional winter entertainments: they took a ski trip through a snow-covered forest, played snowballs, rode down the hill on tubing. Most of the students who came from warm countries started skiing for the first time on this day. After a fun walk and a traditional photo shoot, international students made tea in a real samovar and said goodbye to the Russian winter with a cup of hot tea and traditional Pancakes.

The purpose of the event – the building of general cultural competencies of future students, social and cultural adaptation, as well as the fostering of tolerance and patriotism – was achieved.

CULTURAL EVENT "THE 12TH OF APRIL – THE DAY OF COSMONAUTICS"

On the 12th of April 2021 we celebrate the 60th year of the first human flight into open space. Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin was the first man in the world to fly into space, having opened the way to the stars for humanity. A cultural event dedicated to his flight was held at the Department of Russian Language and called “The 12th of April – The Day of Cosmonautics”. International students of the Preparatory Department and first-year students of the Faculty of Medicine from Afghanistan, Ghana, Egypt, Congo, Mauritania, Palestine, Syria, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan learned information about this important event that marked the beginning of human space age.

ALL-RUSSIA EVENT "DAY OF UNIFIED ACTIONS": THE 19th of APRIL, 2021 IS A SPECIAL DATE IN PRESERVING THE HISTORICAL TRUTH ABOUT THE CRIMES OF THE NAZIS

Department of Russian Language of TSMU hosted a cultural event within the framework of the All-Russia action “Day of Unified Actions” aimed at preserving the historical truth about the crimes of the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War, in which Russian and international students of the 1st – 4th courses of the Faculty of Medicine, Pediatrics and Dentistry, teachers of the Department of Russian Language took part from the 12th to the 19th of April.

"LET'S GO TO THE MUSEUM!" - FOREIGN STUDENTS OF MEDICAL AND DENTAL FACULTIES VISITED A MOBILE PHOTO EXHIBITION

“Let’s go to the museum!” is the name of the mobile photo exhibition, which was visited by first-year students of the medical and dental faculties of TSMU from Iran, Syria, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Tajikistan. On the posters of the exhibition, which was located in the alleys of the city garden, photographs were presented stories about the branches of the Tver State United Museum.

THE STUDENTS OF THE PREPARATORY DEPARTMENT OF TSMU ARE PARTICIPANTS OF THE CULTURAL EVENT "KALININ IS OURS!

On December 16, 2021, students of the preparatory department from Egypt, Israel, Iraq, Yemen, Mauritania, Morocco, Syria, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan took part in an event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Kalinin from the Nazi invaders. The event began with a thematic lesson “Kalinin is ours!” prepared by teachers of the Russian Language Department. During the lesson, assistant N.Y. Gribovskaya told the students about the importance of the Kalinin defensive operation during the Great Patriotic War, about the life of the residents of the city during the occupation, about the victims of the fascist regime.

The audience was greatly impressed by the military newsreel footage and photographs depicting the city of Kalinin destroyed during fierce battles. Then there was an excursion to Victory Square, to the Eternal Flame. The audience paid tribute to the memory of Soviet soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of their Homeland, and took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the Victory Obelisk. The event contributed to the formation of general cultural competencies and socio-cultural adaptation of foreign students of the preparatory department.

Indian Students Association

Every year the TSMA Indian Students Association celebrates all Indian & South Asian festivals: e.g. Holi, Diwali, Durgapuja, Baishakhi, Eid.

In addition the Annual Cultural Festival is organized every year.

Student Life

While the primary object of entering the Academy is to get a perfect education and training, time spent in the TSMA can provide priceless life experience. It can tremendously widen person`s mental horizon and glimpse of life, giving him essential superiority over his peers. It is important to mention that apart from academic studies in the TSMA attention is also paid to social and extracurricular activities.

Many units of the Academy provide opportunities for students to demonstrate and improve their talents, show commitment to public service or reveal hidden abilities. In the TSMA there are:

  • the TSMA General Purpose Cultural Centre;
  • Office of Pedagogical Work;
  • Indian Cultural Centre;
  • Sri Lankan Cultural Centre;
  • Youth Centre of the TSMA;
  • soccer, lawn tennis, table tennis, volleyball, triathlon and cricket sport clubs.
